Choose a laser fume extractor around the processed material, enclosure connection, smoke load and filter system. Laser wattage and hose diameter are useful details, but they do not establish compatibility on their own. For a small 5W setup, MN01W may be an option; MN02 provides a different 200W, four-layer configuration for application review.

1. Define the material and working pattern first
Two machines with similar laser power can present different extraction demands when the material, enclosure, job duration or cutting process changes. Start with the machine model, the materials permitted by its manufacturer, the size of the work area and the typical operating schedule.
Describe whether you engrave, cut, or alternate between both. Share how often the machine runs and whether the enclosure already has a specified extraction connection. Follow the laser manufacturer’s material and extraction instructions; adding a filter unit does not make an unsuitable material suitable for laser processing.
Matching extraction to the machine is an established equipment-selection practice. For example, laser manufacturer Trotec publishes model-specific exhaust-system recommendations. That guidance concerns Trotec equipment and does not establish NLVYPRO compatibility with those machines.
2. Separate the capture connection from outdoor exhaust
The inlet hose carries air from the work area or enclosure to the extractor. An outdoor exhaust hose, where supported, routes air from the extractor to an appropriate discharge point. These are different parts of the air path and should not be selected by appearance alone.
MN01W adds a left-side exhaust flange and a 2 m outdoor exhaust hose. It shares MN01’s soldering, repair and nail-dust applications and can also be considered for small laser engraving or cutting machines, such as 5W units. Confirm the material, smoke load and connections for the specific setup.

Before ordering a hose, measure the connection and specify whether the measurement is an inside or outside diameter. Provide the required length and any adapters. For MN02, ask the factory to confirm the supplied hose configuration against your exact machine port.
3. Understand what each MN02 filter layer does
MN02 uses four layers with separate maintenance roles. The first black foam layer is washable; the second cotton pad acts as a pre-filter; the HEPA stage captures fine particles; activated carbon helps adsorb odors and certain gaseous contaminants.

Inspect and service the layers according to their condition and the care instructions. Allow washed foam to dry fully before refitting. Do not apply the MN01 replacement intervals to MN02 without model-specific guidance. Smoke concentration, materials and operating time affect filter life.
A filter efficiency figure needs supporting test conditions. This guide does not claim a universal particle-removal percentage, odor-removal percentage or suitability for every gas. Reduced smell is not proof that the air meets a particular exposure requirement.
4. Compare the MN01W and MN02 configurations
| Selection point | MN01W | MN02 |
|---|---|---|
| Rated power | 105W | 200W |
| Manufacturer-stated airflow | 155 CFM | 177 CFM / 300 m³/h |
| Filter stages | Three | Four, including washable first-stage foam |
| Configuration feature | Optional outdoor exhaust connection | Wheeled base and separate filter layers |
| Selection approach | Consider for a small laser setup after confirmation | Review for laser or workshop demands against the exact application |
These airflow figures identify the manufacturer-listed configurations. Actual airflow depends on the operating setting, filters and hose arrangement. Motor wattage does not represent the maximum compatible laser wattage.
5. Questions before buying a laser fume extractor
Will any extractor work with a 5W laser?
No. A 5W rating alone is not a compatibility specification. Check the material, enclosure, smoke load, working schedule and connections. MN01W can be considered for selected small setups after those details are confirmed.
Does a matching hose diameter guarantee compatibility?
No. The connection must fit, but the extraction demand also needs to match the equipment. Ask about the complete air path, including adapters and hose length.
What information helps the factory recommend a model?
Send the laser model and power, processed material, engraving or cutting process, enclosure photo, connection measurements, daily running time and discharge requirements. For a trial, agree on the configuration and what you will evaluate before ordering a batch.
