FUME EXTRACTION / BUYING GUIDE

How Often Should You Replace Fume Extractor Filters?

Fume extractor filter replacement depends on the model, material, operating hours and loading of each layer. For MN01, the manufacturer’s reference intervals are 7–15 days for pre-filter cotton, 4–8 months for HEPA and 8–12 months for activated carbon. Use these as planning estimates alongside regular inspection.

The first-stage pre-filter is a separate consumable, so it can be replaced without discarding the complete filter set.

MN01 filter replacement intervals

A filter schedule helps you keep compatible spares available. The condition of the installed filters still needs to be checked against the work being done. A bench used occasionally for electronics repair and a workstation collecting dust throughout the day will not necessarily load filters at the same rate.

MN01 layer Main role Reference replacement interval
Pre-filter cotton Collect larger particles before the main filters 7–15 days
HEPA filter Capture fine particles 4–8 months
Activated carbon Help adsorb odors and certain gaseous contaminants 8–12 months

These manufacturer-provided intervals apply to MN01 as reference estimates. MN01 and MN01W share compatible filter components, but service life depends on the application. Confirm your maintenance plan for MN01W with its actual operating conditions. Do not automatically apply this table to MN02, which has a different four-layer system.

What should you inspect between replacements?

Check the first-stage pad for visible loading and look for changes in capture at the normal working position. When comparing performance over time, keep the hood position and airflow setting consistent. Also check the hose for obstructions, sharp bends or a loose connection before attributing reduced capture entirely to a filter.

On MN01, a beeping alarm indicates filter saturation and calls for an inspection. Switch off and unplug before opening the unit. Check each layer and replace the loaded component according to the manual. If the alert continues after appropriate maintenance, contact the manufacturer with the model and a description of the issue.

Carbon condition requires attention to the substances and operating conditions. A change in odor can prompt a review, but smell alone cannot establish that all airborne contaminants have been controlled. Source capture and room ventilation need to be considered for the process.

Do all the filters need replacing together?

The MN01 and MN01W filter layers can be replaced separately. Start with the first-stage pad, then assess the HEPA and carbon layers. Replacing a pre-filter does not renew a loaded main filter, and replacing every layer together is not automatically required.

Order the correct model and layer. Inspect the main filters as well as the first-stage pad.

Before ordering, record the machine model, the layer required and the version of the installed component. Use the manufacturer’s compatible replacement rather than assuming that a filter with a similar appearance will fit and seal correctly. Follow the installation order and airflow direction in the product manual.

Which MN02 filter layer can be washed?

MN02 has a first-stage black washable foam layer, followed by pre-filter cotton, HEPA and activated carbon. Only that first foam layer is identified here as washable. Follow its care instructions and allow it to dry fully before refitting. Do not wash the other layers unless their specific instructions permit it.

Keep an inspection record for MN02 instead of borrowing the MN01 interval table. Note the process, running hours, filter checks and component changes. This gives the factory useful information when discussing replacement stock or an unexpected change in performance.

Common filter maintenance questions

Are MN01 and MN01W filters interchangeable?

Yes. The manufacturer confirms that MN01 and MN01W use compatible shared filter components. MN02 uses its own filter configuration.

Can I extend filter life by using a lower airflow setting?

Choose a setting that provides suitable capture for the task. The relationship between loading and service life depends on the process; a lower setting should not be treated as a guaranteed maintenance saving.

What details help when ordering replacement filters?

Send the model, a photo of the installed filter, the layer required, operating conditions and quantity. For distributors, ask for the consumables list when planning the equipment order.

Review MN01, MN01W or MN02 filter details, or ask about replacement consumables.
